Health & Welfare
If any pet shows signs of disease or illness we will reserve the right not to accept your pet for boarding. Any medical conditions must be discussed with us prior to boarding. To ensure the safety and well-being of all pets in our care, appropriate vaccination certificates are required.
Each new resident will undergo our health check before admission this takes approximately 5 mins as the health and wellbeing of our guests is extremely important to us, and for the care, concern and health of animals boarding at our establishment, we reserve the right at all times to refuse for boarding any animal exhibiting signs of injury and/or ill health NOT in receipt of veterinary treatment.
We also reserve the right not to accept animals with contagious diseases, for example, Pasteurella and vent disease in rabbits or parasitic infection including chronic mange in guinea pigs, which may seriously compromise the health of other boarders.
Rabbits only: Helping Hands Boarding require all rabbits to be up to date with RHD 1 & 2 & Myxomatosis vaccinations. An up to date vaccination cards must be uploaded onto the booking form or bought along and shown on arrival of your rabbits stay.
We do not accept rabbits for boarding unless they are fully vaccinated. Guinea pigs do not require any specific vaccinations.
We will not be held responsible for any illnesses such as (but not limited to) Myxomatosis, Rabbit Haemorrhage Disease, Rabbit Haemorrhage Disease 2, E. Cuniculi, fly strike, mites or any other diseases.
At the time of boarding with us, if your pet is under veterinary care and receiving treatment for non-contagious medical condition/s, we are happy to assist in your pet’s medical program by administering prescribed drugs on your behalf, this may incur an additional fee to be agreed on booking.
Please ensure your pet has enough medication for the duration of his or her stay. We are not vets and we cannot be liable for errors or if something going wrong with the medication, our Insurance will not cover for any error or failure on our part as far as the administration of any veterinary medicine. Owners written consent will be required.
We carry out frequent bottom checks and ensure that all rabbits are kept clean however we will not be held liable in the unfortunate event that your rabbit becomes a victim of fly strike.
Although we make every effort to reduce this risk, overweight rabbits and those that suffer from sticky bums are at greater risk so we strongly recommend all rabbits are protected with rear guard, those that choose not to treat there rabbits must be aware that the risk is higher and in our environment it is impossible for eradicate all flys, untreated rabbits are left at the owners risk and we will not be held to account for fly strike should the owners choose to not protect there rabbits before there visit.
Should your pet become ill whilst boarding with us, we will seek veterinary advice and keep you informed. Any veterinary fees which we incur on your behalf will be payable by you on your return.
In the unlikely event of a death occurring whilst your pet is boarding with us, we will notify you as soon as possible so that we can arrange for your final wishes. We accept no liability in the unlikely event that your pet becomes ill or passes away whilst boarding with us. All pets are left entirely at their owner’s risk.
Whilst your pet is in our care it will be fed a variety of fresh food by us and its own regular dried food provided by you.(If Not Burgus excel / Science select ) We will provide top quality farm hay, treats, fruit & Veg where appropriate.
Pets will not mix with other boarders and will be stroked, groomed & checked regularly.:
Rabbits and /or guinea pigs sharing a hutch, which begin displaying signs of aggression and/or sexual harassment toward each other, maybe separated at our discretion for the safety, health and wellbeing of the animals. The owner of any pets, which must be separated, will incur the extra costs of boarding.
Newly bonded pairs must have been together for over 3 months – as some bond are still fragile during this honeymoon period.
Although we take every care to offer a stable environment for bonded rabbits on the rare occasion the bond can break down (Stress of a new environment) we unfortunately cant take no responsibility for the bond failure and the boarding is at the owners risk.

Drop offs by appointment – 10am – 12pm. Monday to Saturday
Pickups by appointment – 3pm – 5pm. Monday to Saturday

We check in/out guests by arranged appointment between our opening hours. We can be very busy and need definite times for dropping and collecting. Please make sure you arrive on time as other guests have also made appointments.
(WE ARE CLOSED SUNDAY AND BANK HOLIDAYS)
Including Christmas & boxing day, New years day, Easter and all major UK bank holidays, this is a stipulation from the council and part of our operational agreement.
All bookings, verbally or email will NOT be considered formal until the booking form has been returned completed and signed.
Please ensure boarding costs are paid in full via Bank transfer 48 hours before dropping your pet/s off.
Please stick to your agreed times, we accept situations change, all we ask is to contact us via telephone to re-arrange a mutually convenient time prior to arrival / collect of your pet, Please respect our opening hours and keep to your agreed appointment time as failure to do so may result in an inconvenience to both ourselves and others using our facility .
Any balances, full or remaining, must be paid in full on the day of arrival.
If your pet is already boarding with us and you wish to collect them earlier than the date agreed, you will still be liable for the full amount and will not be issued a refund of the remaining days.
If you wish to extend your booking or cannot collect your pet on the agreed day then every agreed additional day will be charged at our current daily prices for that pet type until collection. During peak periods we may be unable to extend the boarding and your emergency contact will need to collect the animals.
If for any reason, your pet is not collected within five days of the agreed collection date, and we have not heard from you, and/or been unable to contact you, we will assume you have abandoned your pet and will commence legal proceedings to recover continuing boarding costs.
Cancellation of a confirmed booking, you will be liable to pay 50% of the total boarding costs if canceled within 7 days prior to the start date, 100% if cancelled within 2 days prior to the start date.
Helping Hands Boarding does not tolerate any abusive behaviour and in doing so may result in a ban from Helping Hands Boarding and legal action to be taken against you.
We will not accept Un-neutered male rabbits, Neuter operation needs to be done 12 weeks before boarding. Female rabbits must be spayed unless discussed at the time of booking.
We do not board pregnant animals. Any sow boarding with us, who gives birth to a litter while in our care, will remain with the litter under our supervision until the piglets are weaned for the security of the mother and the survival of the litter. The owner will incur the extra costs of boarding.
In unforeseen circumstances should your pet require emergency medical treatment, We will ensure your pet receives immediate veterinary attention. We will instruct our preferred vets. Vet fees, which may accrue and remain outstanding upon collection of pets, are entirely the sole responsibility of the owner.
Your pet’s health, safety and welfare are of paramount importance to us, in the unlikely event of a death occurring, we will contact you if possible to make suitable arrangements. If we are unsuccessful in contacting you, we will hold your pet in cold storage until you return or at our vets for your collection.
Please note; all pets boarding at Helping Hands Boarding are left completely at the owner’s risk and Helping Hands Boarding accept no responsibility whatsoever should your pet become ill or death occurs.

We provide:
Various types of accommodation, bedding, hay, fresh fruit and vegetables, litter tray, water bottle, food bowl, toys etc.
All pellet / feed type used must be brought as we do not supply because we dont want any upset tummies.
